In  my post on February 10 I predicted that there would be a million cases of coronavirus by March 1. It was a simplistic back-of-the-envelope calculation. On the same day, Donald Trump made the prediction, “Now, the virus that we’re talking about having to do — you know, a lot of people think that goes away in April with the heat — as the heat comes in. Typically, that will go away in April. We’re in great shape though. We have 12 cases — 11 cases, and many of them are in good shape now.” As leader of the free world, President of the USA, he has access to the most information and smartest, most educated people in the world.

Now it is March 2, and all bets are off. I really hope that he is right and that this blows over. However, I am beginning to think that my post was not just categorized fiction, and that there might be a clear and present danger here. It is in the interests of the Establishment to minimize panic. Therefore, it makes sense to not do extensive testing, because the public might not want to know the answers. It is a Catch-22, if you don’t provide the tests, then you can say that everyone is O.K., and then there is no need for tests, because everyone is O.K.

I would have thought that something scared the Chinese autocratic leadership in Wuhan. Enough to quarantine the entire city. And that seems to have helped.

I am not a politician, and I don’t really care about being on the right side of an issue. But I do care for my wife. I spent Christmas eve in the hospital watching her fight the HMPV virus. She was in serious / critical condition. The doctors saved her life. And she is still recovering now. I really don’t want her to catch the Coronovirus. Because she might really die this time.

I think what they did with the Diamond Princess was awful. Why couldn’t they care for the people?
