Dear Honorable Sen. Hawley and Sen. Blunt,
When educated men resort to base appeals to mobs there is no room for
debate or well-considered legislation. Why do you pander to the
right wing propaganda mills? Why do you converse with dime store pundits?
This bubble popularity is but an illusion and transient. As Thomas Hart Benton
said, “I have been a Senator for 30 years…but always with full reliance upon
their intelligence to understand me and their equity to do me justice —
and I have never been disappointed”.
Mr. Trump has attacked the center of our party with playground taunts —
“low energy Jeb”, “little Marco”, “lying Ted”, “Jeff Flakey”, “Truly weird
Senator Rand Paul”, “little Ben Sasse”,”Crazy Arnold”.
He attacks those who stand up to him — Liz Cheney of Wyoming,
Mitt Romney of Utah, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Mike Pence, Bill Barr.
Mr. Trump and his bullies have carjacked the Republican party. He has ruled
through fear, threatening to ‘primary’ any who rise up. He has ruled though
rewards with his personal millions and swindled PAC money.
Mr. Trump has been a disaster to the Republican Party. The party lost both
seats in Georgia — Purdue and Loeffler. And that was with Mr. Trumps active support.
Don’t think that won’t happen here in Missouri, because I assure you — it will.
Mr. Trump has shown disrespect to our Republic and Constitution of the US.
Mr. Trump incited a mob to attack the Constitution of the US, the Joint
Session of Congress and Vice President, at the Capitol Dome on
Janary 6th.
On December 19, 2020, Mr. Trump called out to Americans, all over the country,
to come to the District of Columbia to protest and overturn the results.
He tweeted, “Come to DC on January 6th, It will be Wild!” The very next day,
a website popped up, called “Wild Protest”
asking for donations, and organizing a mass assembly in DC on January 6th.
On January 6, 2021, Mr. Trump — “We will never give up, We will never concede,
You don’t concede when there is theft involved. Our Country has had
enough, and we are not going to take it anymore. That’s what this is
all about…We will STOP THE STEAL!”
As it is written, Revelations 03:03 “Remember, therefore, what you have
received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up,
I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.”
He was unrepentant, he is unrepentant. He is a repeat offender — twice impeached,
permanently banned from Twitter.
He is a coward. Mr. Trump said Jan 6, 2021, “we’re going to walk down,
and I’ll be there with you…walk down to the Capitol…So we’re going to,
we’re going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue…”. But Mr. Trump did not
walk with them, Mr. Trump did not lead them.
Five souls died. For what purpose? To what end? One was struck in the head
by a fire extinguisher. One was trampled to death. One was shot in the head.
The Senate in our Republic has the right to decide and
convict in matters of Impeachment. It is the sole power of the Senate
under Article II, Section 4 of the US Constitution. The Supreme Court
has acknowledged that to avoid opening the door and to expose the political
life of the country to months, or perhaps years, of utter chaos.
Are you going to shrink from your responsibility and yield your power, or will you
assert that you have jurisdiction? For if you do not, then who does?
As a man of conscience, I implore you listen to the evidence that will be
presented at trial. This will be no straw vote. As a Missouri citizen,
I charge you as a juror in this Constitutional trial to respect and honor
your oath of office, and your duty as a Senator under the Constitution. Is
the standard for judgement reasonable doubt? Is the defendent unrepentent?
Is he a clear and present danger to
the Constitution of these our United States?
Please stand up as a Senator, do not be bullied, bribed, or threatened.
If you cannot in good faith perform this duty, then I ask that you recuse
yourself, and, or resign your office.
