Letter to Sen. Hawley and Blunt 2021-01-19

Dear Sen. Hawley,

Bill Barr, Attorney General under Trump said “debate about the election’s legitimacy “was the thing that precipitated the riots on the Hill.”

Mitch McConnell Republican Leader of the Senate “The last time the Senate convened, we had just reclaimed the Capitol from violent criminals who tried to stop Congress from doing our duty,” McConnell (R-Ky.) said on the Senate floor.  “The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the president and other powerful people. And they tried to use fear and violence to stop a specific proceeding…. but we pressed on.”

As one of two Senators, representing me, I would like to hear your voice. What do you think? Do you feel that the process associated with the Certification of the Electoral College was on January Sixth, 2021 was a success? Do you feel that improvements could have been made? Are there any lessons learned?

Do you feel that the kind of Populism that Mr. Trump advocates has associated dangers? Do you feel that the people don’t have a voice, as Mr. Trump said in his farewell address, “We fought… because we are all made equal by God. Everyone is entitled… to have their voice heard, and to have their government listen.”

IMHO, I believe Mr. Trump is a clear and present danger to our Republic and the U.S. Constitution.

Sincerely,

Nick Strauss
